Spore-Tactician Xith

Xith taught at the Filament Academy for forty years, wrote three of the seven canonical spore syllabi, and trained four of the current senior broodmothers. A brood-named Petal of Xith is carved into the academy's central trunk, which is as high as that honor goes. They are not retired. They walked out.

The high broodmothers are using the convergent-cloud doctrine in shallow gravity wells. The syllabus forbids it. Xith wrote the section that forbids it. They use it because Queen Apex once won a fight that way, and the win has been mythologized. Three formal corrections have been filed and not applied. Last year the doctrine killed two captains Xith had trained. The Patient Inhalation flies without orders from the high broodmothers. Xith will fight beside commanders who read their own syllabi. They will not fight for Apex. They will not fight her, either.
