Foreman Daskal

Adriyah Daskal was a junior foreman in a heavy-artillery foundry when a rival fleet hit the yard. She refused the evacuation, locked herself in the control room, and fired the foundry's own prototype cannons until the attackers left. The Combine promoted her on the spot.

Three decades later she has been offered every command the company has, and she has refused all of them. She still fights the Anvil Array from the fortress orbit she took during the attack. She has made it plain that the only way she leaves is in pieces. Logistics now routes around her. She has become a minor geographical feature, and she prefers the geography to the promotion.
