Director Okonkwo

Before the Tonnage Sovereign, Chibuzo Okonkwo ran Foundry-7, the biggest open-pour smelter in Combine territory, a kilometer of crucible hung over a captured asteroid. He worked the floor for eighteen years, including after they made him director. The slag burns on his forearms are old, and he is proud of them.

When the Combine pushed him into fleet command, he insisted on a ship built from his own plate, by crews he had trained. The Sovereign is a huge piece of forged steel with engines bolted on. He treats a dent as a personal insult and fights at the range where his welders used to work, which is close. He has been passed over four times for refusing to leave the floor. He is fine with that. The officers above him are less fine. The right buyer, and the foundry walks.
