Contractor
The Condottiere holds the contract. It is a business rank: the Condottiere owns the ships outright, negotiates directly with the employer, and hires the Company's other ranks to crew them. Loyalty goes to whoever signed last. The Company does not mind, as long as its share arrives. A Condottiere who changes sides mid-war is not a traitor. They are renegotiating.
