The Profos keeps discipline. Thieves, deserters and anyone who strikes a paymaster answer to the Profos, and the Profos answers to nobody but the captain. The Company's justice is fast and practical: fines first, the brig second, and for anyone who sells a contract to the enemy, the next station and no pay. Nobody likes the Profos. Every banner keeps one anyway.
