Helmsman
The Steersman holds the helm and plots the lane. Most of the Company's victories are decided before anyone fires: by which lane the banner took, how fast it got there, and whether it arrived where the enemy was not looking. Steersmen are paid accordingly and drink accordingly. No captain sails without one they trust, and no sensible captain argues with one about the route.
